NEW 12 month residential horticulture training at Sharpham
Live, work and train in regenerative land methods at Sharpham.
The Sharpham Trust is offering up to three residential year-long placements as part of the Level 3 traineeship facilitated by The Apricot Centre.
The traineeship runs from January 2023 to December 2023 for 5 days a week, with 4 days at Sharpham and 1 day of training at The Apricot Centre. Trainees are offered accommodation and £50 per week training allowance, all bills are covered and they also get a food box along with their FREE training worth £5200!
The traineeship offers an authentic opportunity on a working farm or woodland, or with a food producer, together with a FREE Level 3 qualification in Regenerative Land-based Systems and a Permaculture Design Certificate Qualification. This qualification has been generously funded by Devon Environmental Foundation, Vivobarefoot ‘Livebarefoot Fund’ and Devon County Council.
We're a charity that cares for a 550-acre organic estate with a Georgian mansion at its heart, alongside the River Dart. We host mindfulness retreats and events.
Trainees will gain experience in our ornamental gardens, woodland, organic orchards and Walled Garden which grows produce for the Trust's vegetarian and vegan kitchens, overseen by Head Gardener Frances Tophill and Assistant Gardener Chloe Ellis.
The gardens are also worked by volunteers and by people who stay for a week on retreat in our Coach House venue.
The gardens are all managed organically and we have a large polytunnel and a 100ft greenhouse.
The Trust has long experience managing residential volunteers who help facilitate retreats and is offering residential garden placements for up to three people. An interest in mindfulness meditation would be an advantage but enthusiasm is the main requirement.
